NS Builders: Framing Tuckerman Street: EP 04

Framing Video in South Boston

Objective:

Framing a shot is extremely important in Video Production and It’s critical for carpenters. Framing is underway at Tuckerman Street in South Boston and Puffin Media was there with NS Builders to frame a good shot or two.

 Video Description:

With demolition more or less complete, we’re beginning to frame the first floor. First things first we need to install a few heavy duty beams to transfer the loads which were previously carried by existing structural walls. We keep the videos short and interesting and will begin to focus on more of the details in the upcoming episodes.

NS Builders: Demolition Tuckerman Street: EP 03

Demolition Video in South Boston

Objective:

To start anew the old must be demolished (in this case). Demolition started at Tuckerman Street and Puffin Media was there to capture the excitement. It was a cold damp day in Boston but that didn’t stop NS Builders or Puffin Media from getting the job done.

 Video Description:

We take this 1895 home down to the bones in hopes to re-structure to fit our needs. After meeting with the architect and engineer we developed a plan to install new structural components and interior partitions. We even remove the entire third floor to gain additional height in the attic, which will be two additional bedrooms.

NS Builders: Subcontractors Tuckerman Street: EP 02

Renovation in South Boston

Objective:

Meeting with the subcontractors started to define the scope of Tuckerman Street as a series. NS Builders started to make decisions to get the renovation in South Boston under way and Puffin Media was there to video the action.

 Video Description:

Nick walks through the scope of work with the electrical, plumbing, HVAC and insulation contractors. Nick also meets with the architect & engineer to discuss the options for floor layout and the need for an addition which may be added on the second and/or third floor. After visiting with the building department, they found that adding an addition will likely raise a schedule delay due to the the current non-conforming dwelling. Rather than push the schedule back, they decide to proceed with the interior renovation first.

Aerial Video: Puffingram Jan ’16

Aerial Video: Puffingram Jan ’16

Puffingrams are monthly videos that generally consist of all aerial video. This month is aerial video of a farm in southern Maine. It was ridiculously windy and it had snowed the evening before. The DJI Phantom 3 held up well in the wind. Since it remained cold the snow was sandy and created interesting snow drifts. It wasn’t the easiest landing in the world ;P Enjoy!

Aerial Video: Puffingram OCT ’15

This month is aerial video of the leaves changing on a farm in southern Maine. I’m Glad I got a chance to get some footage of the amazing foliage this year. Unfortunately I didn’t have a high vantage point so I couldn’t get my drone as close to the trees as I wanted to. I always think of the safety factor before the beauty factor. If your vantage point allows it the most compelling aerial video is when you can get as close to the subject as possible.

Wears Woody is making waves in the apparel world. This month they brought us out to Duxbury Beach to make a promotional video for their latest threads and of course to grab some aerial video of woody (aka Jeep Grand Wagoneer). We lucked out with an amazing sunrise and awesome weather for the 2 day shoot. Thought a throw together a quick 15 sec teaser of the up coming video and feature some of those awesome aerial video shots.

Motion Graphics

Let the motion set you free

You can do what most do, and have your logo fade up and out, before and after your video content. I’ve done it. We all have. It works, but it’s not memorable. Leave the convention and embrace the excitement of motion. Let Puffin Media energize your logo with motion or animation. The video above is just a small sample of the possibilities for your logo. We offer very competitive pricing on all motion graphics including but not limited logo animation. Give us a shout and see if we can kick some a$$ for you!

P.S. Don’t forget we can also design logos. If you need a fresh look or a head to toe makeover we can help.

  • Studio space: It is pint-sized powerhouse of a studio. It’s not Paramount Studios, but it offers a solid work space allowing for good depth for shooting.
  • Conference space: A large conference table allows the creative juices to flow and a coffee machine is a hop, jump, and a skip away.
  • Lounge space: A comfy sofa and chairs circle each other for a more laid back meeting style. Also a good place for fellow colleagues off camera to hang.
  • Double doors: The big door opening to the studio allows large objects to easily come in and be photographed or used as props.
  • Natural light: An abundance of natural light is available during the day in the studio. Allowing you to keep your artistic options open.
  • Studio lighting: A wide variety of Fresnels and LEDs are available in the studio. To stay consistent with previously existing content or direction style.
  • White wall: The white wall is the primary background in the studio and allows for the most flexibility during shooting.
  • Green screen/Black screen: Fabric screen options are available for various setups.
